The Maid of the Loch
The Maid of The Loch is a magnificent example of Clyde-built ship engineering with a stunning art deco inspired interior.
Already a much-loved feature on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, she attracts thousands of visitors every year and, over the last 20 years, a loyal band of volunteers has focused every available hour on her conservation. With Heritage Lottery Fund firmly behind us – and with your support – we, (the Board of The Maid of The Loch Steamship Company, volunteers and supporters), hope to safely steer the Maid to a new phase of her life, relaunching her as a fully operational paddle steamer.
A £950,000 capital grant funding award by the Scottish Government to Loch Lomond’s paddle steamer Maid of the Loch has been confirmed, meaning the goal of returning the ship to sail lives on.
John Beveridge, Chairman of the Loch Lomond Steamship Company, said: “This is a huge boost to the project and will transform the Maid’s attraction to visitors.''
0n Monday, 07 October, 2019 the boilers of the Maid of the Loch paddle steamer were started for
the first time in almost forty years.
This is fantastic news which will drive expectations that the Maid of the Loch will be restored to
full working order in the foreseeable future.
